Slack: digital communication

We at George Labs use Slack for most of the internal communication around George.

As a customer of the George Design System (GDS), it is in your interest to join and follow different Slack channels to stay up to date on or ask questions about GDS.

Component specific Slack channels

To keep communication around specific components lean and focused and to allow everyone interested in the discussion about a specific component to participate, we create for some of the components specific Slack channels.
You can easily browse for them by searching for #gds-web- (e.g. #gds-web-fullpage or #gds-app- depending on the platform of your interest.

How to get access

Depending on which entity of Erste you are working for, the process to join Slack channels of George Labs might differ.

For members of the George Team

If you are a member of the George Team (George Labs, Erste Digital, Erste Group), you most likely have access to George Labs Slack since your onboarding and can browse for Slack channels.

For employees in one of Erste’s countries.

If you are working for one of Erste Group’s entities, you have to get access to the country’s local instance of Slack first. Once you have access to your country’s instance of Slack, you can browse the Slack channels of George Labs which are shared with your countries.

Meetup: Design and Development

Every alternating week there is an internal Design System Meetup:

  • Design and Development Meetup Web
  • Design and Development Meetup App

The Web Design Meetup is an interdisciplinary meeting between Designers, GDS, and Frontend Developers working on George Retail and Business including the George Store from all countries using and collaborating on the George Design System. Other roles (Product Owner, Business Analyst, Tester, Backend Developer, Mobile Developer) are welcome any time as well.

Purpose

The goal is to align on development and design topics, and discuss technical feasibility of existing and new components, patterns and behaviors for George Retail and Business and all services using the George Design System.

The meeting is an extension to the slack channels #design-system-web and #design-system-business. The schedule and agenda to the meeting is linked and posted in #design-system-web.
